Director Stuart Clarke's aim was to create a 12th century rendition of Macbeth for the small pub theatre above the Lion in Unicorn in Kentish town. A straightforward telling of the Shakespeare classic, I aimed to use our minimal budget to denote to the rank and individuality of each character through key costume items, keeping a sense of period though allowing room for an element of fantasy. The set was multifunctional, denoting the walls of a castle as seen either from the interior or exterior depending on the scene, as well as suggesting ruins on the heath.
