Monteverdi's classic Poppea offers a re-imagining of actual historic events in the life of Roman emperor Nero, and his mistress Poppea who he brought to power. For this production, director Jenny Miller and I seek to express the sense of infinity and history repeating itself as we look at how the politics at play and personal story of love and loss have been reflected again and again through time.
